Giving with a twist: The United Way holds its semi-annual Spring Trike Race
"This supports our vision of a united community that is healthy, safe, and prosperous for everyone."
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY)–Dozens of people had their wheels spinning at this year’s United Way of The Cape Fear Area’s Spring Trike Race.
The semi-annual fundraising event was held Thursday afternoon at the Eagle’s Dare on N. Third St. in Wilmington.
Different teams lined up in the parking lot and did a relay race on tricycles.
Tommy Taylor is the CEO of The United Way of The Cape Fear Area. He says the event is a wholesome way to bring people together.
“This supports our vision of a united community that is healthy, safe, and prosperous for everyone. All of our partners contributed to making that a reality and things like this- the more we can do as a community to benefit the nonprofit infrastructure… the quicker we can see a community just like that.”
The winning team received a $500 donation to a nonprofit of their choice, and an additional $250 prize was given to the team with the “best spirit.”
