GLOW Class of 2026 earns 174 college acceptances and $7.5 million in scholarships

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington announced strong college outcomes for the Class of 2026 midway through the academic year, with seniors earning 174 college acceptances and securing more than $7.5 million in merit-based scholarships so far.
School leaders say the total number of acceptances and scholarships is expected to continue growing as additional college decisions are released throughout the spring semester.
GLOW said one of the most significant milestones this year belongs to senior Isabella Cross, who became GLOW’s first-ever QuestBridge National College Match recipient. Cross matched with Washington University in St. Louis and received a full four-year scholarship valued at approximately $404,000.
Washington University in St. Louis is consistently ranked among the top 50 universities in the United States.
QuestBridge connects high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with leading colleges and universities. More than 25,000 students applied to this year’s QuestBridge National College Match, with 7,026 finalists selected. Of those, 2,550 students nationwide were named Match Scholars.
“Isabella’s achievement reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and academic excellence,” said Jahleese Hadley, GLOW’s director of college access. “Her success, and the accomplishments of our senior class, are the result of a collective effort by our families, College Access department, teachers, and staff, all committed to expanding access to higher education.”
GLOW Principal Kate Tayloe said the achievement is especially meaningful as the school marks its 10th year.
“Isabella’s success is an inspiring example of what happens when high expectations, academic excellence, and unwavering support come together,” Tayloe said. “Seeing our seniors’ hard work pay off in such meaningful ways is an incredible way to kick off the holiday season… and remind us what our students can accomplish when they believe in themselves and stay committed to their goals.”
Families interested in enrolling at GLOW Academy can apply through the school’s lottery application, which is open for grades 6–12 through January 31.
