Greenfield Lake renovations complete

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The renovations at Greenfield Lake are complete.

A Wilmington City spokeswoman said the work to replace the old bulkhead, wooden walkway and paddle boat docks located along Greenfield Lake between the boat house and the playground area on the northwest side of Greenfield Park is now complete.

The spokeswoman said the $440,000 project began in January and finished ahead of schedule.

The old bulkhead dated back to the 1970s. She said the new wooden walkway is handicap-accessible and includes handrails. The docks are floating docks, making it easier to get on and off boats, and two new handicap-accessible fishing areas were added.

She said the boardwalk near the boathouse was also elevated to improve safety.
