Greenfield Park set to undergo extensive work in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Preparations are underway in advance of next year’s 100th anniversary of Wilmington’s Greenfield Park.
Shweta Nanekar is a Landscape Architect for McAdams. It’s a firm out of Raleigh. Nanekar said McAdams will do some extensive work in the Port City over the next decade.
The park is set to undergo some improvements, including replacing the lion’s bridge and docks, resurfacing the trail, and restoring the fragrance garden.
Nanekar said it’s the park’s rich history that led her team to preserve it for another century.
“Through this master plan we really want to bring up those stories and make sure, you know, this generational destination continues to grow, expand, and bring more memories to new people,” Nanekar said.
She said the City of Wilmington already has begun putting recommendations made by McAdams into effect, including installing a park ranger at Greenfield Park.
