GRITS holds empowerment seminar

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — GRITS, or Girls Rocking in the South, is a teen empowerment group that focuses on building self-esteem and creating a balance between all people.

Young girls filled the MLK center in Downtown Wilmington to attend a seminar on empowering women.

One guest in attendance is TV and movie star Sulondia Hammond.

Her message to the group was that you are enough and love who you are.

For the girls in attendance, the seminar was a chance to hear that message and others.

Vice President of GRITS, Ivory Cobb wanted girls to know to “be confident in yourself, you can be anything you want to be if you’re just confident. Don’t be scared to talk to someone you can have someone behind you, just don’t be scared.”

GRITS holds seminars similar to these monthly, for more information on the group and when the next seminar is you can visit their Facebook page by clicking here.
