Group seeks volunteers for Masonboro Island 4th of July cleanup
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the sixth year in a row, a group of people will head to a popular party spot on 4th of July not celebrate, but to help clean up the mess of other revelers.
Masonboro.org will be on Masonboro Island helping to keep it clean during the Fourth of July. Last year, 70 volunteers handed out trash bags and talked to the island’s visitors about keeping the area clean.
Since 2009, hundreds of volunteers have removed and recycled tons of trash from Masonboro Island during the annual 4th of July Celebration, when the hundreds of people arrive by boat to party.
