Fans wait hours to see Guy Fieri during filming for ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Flavortown bus is officially in the Cape Fear. Food Network’s Guy Fieri is officially in town, filming at various restaurants across the area.

Dozens lined up in front of the Copper Penny restaurant Wednesday afternoon to get a glimpse of the host of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

Finally after hours, fans got their chance. Many say his crew was running late as Guy made a stop at Cast Iron Kitchen, a restaurant not originally on his list.

Fork ‘N’ Cork, Ceviche’s, Something Fishy, and Sweet n Savory Cafe are on the list.

Some said they were waiting for Guy since 8 a.m. Wednesday morning and others said they left school early.

“We’re out here looking for Guy. We’re on the prowl. We really want to get an interaction with him. See him roll up in the Corvette, is it a Corvette? I’m sure it is,” fan, Sellers said.

“I don’t know but it’s a great car,” fan Kasey said. “He’s a great man.”

“Guy Fieri is a living legend,” fan, Brandon said. “Wilmington has been blessed by his presence. We are so excited to see him.”

“There’s a makeup day for finals,” Sellers said. “There’s not a makeup day for this. This is a once in a life time opportunity.”

“It’s the best day of my life,” Kasey said.

“Agreed nothing more to be said,” Brandon said. “Nothing more to state.”

Filming is scheduled to wrap up at the end of the week.
