Haiti Awake sends help and hope after hurricane

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Haiti Awake is a group here in the Port City that works directly with Haitians to spread the Gospel, hope and relationships. Today some members are in Haiti working to bringing people help after Hurricane Matthew.

Haiti Awake is now working to bring water, food and other necessities to the people impacted. Paige Carroll is a member who said she had the opportunity to travel to Haiti with her husband. She said it is an opportunity she will never forget and she said helping the people she met over her trip now is incredibly important.

“The threat of cholera is very real. You don’t drink the water in Haiti. So providing water bottles, providing food, providing any of those things that we take for granted here in America that they don’t have access to is the ultimate goal,” said Carroll.

Carroll said 100 percent of all donations go straight to Haiti. For more on how you can help click here.
