Hampstead men arrested for DWI, drug charges and child abuse

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested two men after reviving both with Narcan on Thursday.

According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, the department received multiple calls about two male suspects passed out in the travel lane of Randall Parkway with two children in the back seat without proper restraints on.

Dandron says when officers arrived, the car doors were locked. Officers broke the driver-side window and gave Narcan to the driver, who then woke up. EMS arrived and needed to give several doses of Narcan to the passenger before he woke up.

The driver, Ahmad Keon Baker, 26, of Hampstead, was arrested and charged with DWI and 2 counts of Misdemeanor Child Abuse. He was placed under a $5,000 bond.

The passenger, JaJuan LaWayne Baker, 25, of Hampstead, was also arrested. He was charged with Felony Possession of Heroin and placed under a $2,500 bond.

The men, who are presumed to be brothers, admitted to snorting heroin laced with fentanyl.

DSS was contacted and the children, both 2 years old, were released to their mothers.
