‘Hands Off’ rally brought thousands to Wilmington streets on Saturday
"We can not go back. We need to adhere to the constitution. It's how we got where we are."
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) –All across America on Saturday, thousands gathered in the streets, protesting against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Here in the Cape Fear, protests also ensued, screaming a common message: ‘Hands Off.’
“If you don’t stand up and say something or do something, then you’re just kind of letting it happen,” one protester said.
“We can not go back. We need to adhere to the constitution. It’s how we got where we are,” another protester shared.
Protests were in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and here in Wilmington.
“I’m heartened to see so many children out here with their parents,” A protestor explained. “Hopefully, that’ll be the next generation that’s not brainwashed.”
And for those who didn’t pound the pavement, support was shown with car horns as residents drove by.
Everyone partaking in Saturday’s march is pro-democracy organizations such as LGBTQ, Veterans, and healthcare activists, coming together to protest Trump’s policies on policies, human rights, and more.
“I’m going to keep pursuing justice. I don’t care how long it takes. It’s the right thing to do,” a protester said.
“It’s perfect timing- with the tariffs happening and Corey Booker’s talk at the senate, it’s perfect timing. Everything is coming to a head right now,” an attendee shared.
There were also signs attacking Trump’s character, calling him a racist, sexist, and a nazi. Others are demanding him to keep his hands off democracy.
