HAPPENING TOMORROW: Free health screenings for veterans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In honor of Veterans Day, staff at Wilmington Surgical Associates are donating their time on Saturday to perform free vascular and blood pressure screenings to area veterans.

Kelley Garst, director of the Vascular Laboratory, says it’s their way of giving back and it is preventative care for strokes and aneurysms.

“We’re doing this because we are very appreciative of our veterans and their willingness to serve and we just do something to give back. We’re going to look at their carotid arteries with ultra sound. We’re looking at their aorta for an aneurysm and we’re also taking blood pressures on their arms and their legs looking for blockages in their legs,” Garst said

As the screening process will take approximately 30-45 minutes, veterans are asked to call 910-763-7363 to make an appointment between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The business is located at 1414 Medical Center Drive.
