WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — One of the biggest teams in sports entertainment are on their way to the Port City.

The Harlem Globetrotters will perform at Trask Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. This is part of their 100-year tour as the franchise was founded in 1926.

WWAY spoke with Globetrotter member Brawley “Cheese” Chisholm, who feels performing in North Carolina matters more since the fans understand the game.

“You always want to be around people who love what you’re doing,” Chisholm said. “Being around a crowd that doesn’t know the game, doesn’t know basketball makes it hard to perform. As a performer, you always need that energy from the crowd. If the fans can give you that energy and respect what you do, that always makes work fun.”

Wilmington is also the birth place of former Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon. Chisholm says the team typically honors former players when visiting their hometown.
