Have you seen Bowser the missing tortoise?

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Slow but stealthy, a tortoise is on the loose in Pender County.

In Burgaw, people are on the search for Bowser.

The 50 lbs. tortoise was last seen over the weekend in the 1700 block of Penderlea Hwy.

According to Fresh Start Reptile Rescue, he’s estimated to be anywhere from 10 to 20-years-old and clearly very adventurous.

Fresh Start President Nicole Spencer said Bowser was recently adopted out.

She said these tortoises are clever and if given the opportunity, they will escape.

“Keep him in sight until we get there. Or, if they want to contain him, he’s friendly, he’s a little bit shy,” Spender said. “But he is not aggressive in any way. He is 50 pounds. But you can still pick him up and if you can contain him some way, that’s great too.”

If you happen to cross paths with Bowser, contact Spencer by visiting Fresh Start Rescue Inc. on Facebook.
