Healthcare leaders gather in Wilmington for summit on policy, AI and workforce growth

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) — Healthcare leaders, educators and policymakers from across the state met in Wilmington on Tuesday to discuss the future of healthcare in the area.

The East Coast Healthcare Summit was hosted at the Hotel Ballast. Various speakers discussed topics such as federal and statewide policy decisions and the impact artificial intelligence has on health care.

Panelists also talked about how Wilmington area leaders are encouraging new talent to come to the region. Natalie English, president and CEO for the greater Wilmington Chamber Commerce said the area could soon be a leader statewide for its healthcare.

“The healthcare centers that you think of when someone says ‘where can you get the best healthcare? They tick off cities and Wilmington, North Carolina is going to be on that list,” English said.

Healthcare executives from Wilmington Health, Novant and Dosher Memorial Hospital shared how their facilities use AI and its impact on care delivery and patient outcomes.
