Help rebuild lives: Disaster Relief efforts for Western North Carolina
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As disaster relief efforts continue for those affected in Western North Carolina, local donations are still being collected.
The “Baptists on Mission” organization is mobilizing to fill 18-wheeler tractor trailers, which will be sent to distribution centers in the Black Mountain area.
Donations are being collected at Seagate Baptist Church on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, and almost anything is accepted and appreciated. They are specifically gathering dry goods, with drop-off hours available from Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM.
Senior Pastor Steven Smith of Seagate Baptist Church emphasizes the importance of these efforts, stating, “We know the need is not going to go away. We’ve been in this business a long time. I have personally been doing it for 20 years in disaster relief and recovery, and my background is in construction. As a senior pastor here, we are going to help people, help them rebuild their lives, and get them back to where they need to be.”
Starting Monday, WWAY’s TV station at 1224 Magnolia Village Way in Leland will also serve as a supply drop-off location during regular business hours for the nonprofit “Wilmington Response.”
This organization is sending several trucks filled with supplies to Lenoir, further supporting those in need.
