Herbie Hancock coming to CFCC Wilson Center in September

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Herbie Hancock is coming to the CFCC Wilson Center this fall.

He will be in concert on September 21st at 7:30 p.m.

Born in Chicago in 1940, Herbie was a child piano prodigy who performed a Mozart piano concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at age 11. His 1963 debut album, Takin’ Off, was an immediate success, producing the hit Watermelon Man.

Miles Davis invited Herbie the same year to join the Miles Davis Quintet. During his five years with Davis, Herbie’s solo career blossomed on Blue Note, with classic albums including Maiden VoyageEmpyrean Isles, and Speak Like a Child.

Tickets will be available online to Wilson Center Members beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The general public can get tickets at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
