HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Volleyball, tennis and the new AP football poll
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We had the sports camera out and about on Tuesday. We stopped by Laney for state playoff girls tennis action. East Chapel Hill High School knocked out Laney 6-0. We stopped by Hoggard for semifinal action in the Mideastern Conference for volleyball. Hoggard beat Laney 3-1.

GREENVILLE (CFCC RELEASE) — Cape Fear CC 3 Pitt CC 0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-21). The Sea Devils began their final regular season road swing of the year on Tuesday and grabbed a straight set 3-0 sweep over Pitt Community College in Greenville.
Rachel Braunschweig paced the attack with 10 kills, while Chelsea Bailey contributed with an all-around effort with nine kills, five digs and four blocks.
“We played a solid game where we worked on eliminating unforced errors,” said CFCC Coach Emily Coleman. “Sydney Robinson rattled off seven serves in a row to keep us on top in the second set.”
Braunschweig also added seven digs to shape the defense. Robinson and Bailey Toman closed with eight kills each.
Cape Fear has won 10 of its last 11 matches to improve to 11-3 in Region X play and 16-7 overall. The Sea Devils get back on the floor at St. Andrew’s University on Wednesday, Oct. 21
