High school seniors recieved help with their FAFSA

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY)–Students in New Hanover County Schools got the chance to receive some help with their financial aid as they prepare to transition into college.
Students and parents met at Cape Fear Community College’s Union Station to speak with financial aid representatives for help. Student Jaelyn Fridel says support events like this are very important for incoming Freshmen, due to not having the knowledge to sign up for FAFSA.
Dr. Veronica Edge, Supervisor of Secondary School Counseling and Student Records says this gives students scholarship opportunities that they may not be aware of.
“Nights like this, or just any time or any kind of help is really important for any questions that anyone may have,” Fridel said.
“The information they would gain would be the opportunity for them to have scholarship opportunities as well as an option to attend post-secondary institutions, whether they plan to do it now or later, but making sure they have the opportunity to be enrolled or employed,” Edge said.
There will be another FAFSA support night on February 25th. February is financial aid awareness month.
