Highway Patrol: Woman who hit guardrail in crash which killed child says she fell asleep

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Highway Patrol has a new update to a deadly crash earlier this month which killed a 5-year-old child.
The woman who ran off the road and hit a guardrail, ejecting the child, says she fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, according to law enforcement.
The crash took place on US 74 eastbound near Mt. Misery Road in Brunswick County.
Highway Patrol says Amanda Wright Bridgers continued eastbound about a half mile before realizing the passenger had been ejected.
