Hilton Bluffs master plan reviewed in New Hanover County

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — A new update in the ongoing controversial Sledge Forest development, Hilton Bluffs.

A preliminary master plan for the Hilton Bluffs development in Sledge Forest has been reviewed by New Hanover County, with conservation and traffic impacts as major focuses.

The traffic impact analysis identified dozens of improvements that would have to be made to accommodate the development, including new traffic signals, additional lanes, stop controls, and the roundabout at the intersection of Castle Hayne Road and North College Road would need to be reconfigured.

Also, the conservation area, which accounts for more than a quarter of the property, will be privately owned, but the Unified Development Ordinance outlines regulations to ensure that privately owned conservation space is appropriately protected and maintained.
