HISTORIC HOME TOUR: First Church of Christ, Scientist

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The First Church of Christ, Scientist, sits regally and majestically at 1620 Chestnut Street in Wilmington.

The red brick and white columns command the corner and your attention. It’s the only church on this weekend’s Azalea Festival Home Tour.

Founded in 1895, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wilmington originally worshiped in a Greek Revival at 17th and Market Streets. In 1928, the congregation built the current brick church, which features a classical portico with Corinthian columns. That’s all according to the Azalea Festival Website.

You can walk through this church, and several homes during the Azalea Festival Home Tour which runs this Saturday and Sunday.
