Historic Wilmington Foundation Executive Director Travis Gilbert resigns, Interim steps in

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Historic Wilmington Foundation is undergoing a leadership change.

At a news conference on Friday at the Historic Dudley Mansion in Downtown Wilmington, Travis Gilbert stepped down as Executive Director of the Historic Wilmington Foundation.

After more than three years in the role, Gilbert is stepping down to serve as Director of Philanthropy for the Old Baldy Foundation. It’s a non-profit organization for the state’s historic lighthouse.

Gilbert said this will be a bittersweet transition.

“This has been about a decade of involvement with the Historic Wilmington Foundation and, of course, leaving a decade of organization which you’ve poured your heart and soul into, it leaves you a little sad. But I’m also equally as excited for this new opportunity with the Old Baldy Foundation,” Gilbert said.

Isabelle Shepherd is stepping in as the Interim Executive Director. Shepherd previously served as the Foundation’s Development Officer.
