Hit and run at Intercoastal Towing Service leaves vehicle totaled

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Intercoastal Towing and Recovery Service, located in Kings Grant, had a chaotic start to the day when employee Ryan Ballard arrived at work.

When Ballard pulled into the parking lot, he immediately noticed the vehicles typically for sale outside the business were heavily damaged—dented and smashed.

Upon further investigation, he discovered the cause: a pickup truck had barreled through the bushes and crashed into the cars on the lot.

“I realized that this Ford hit the Ford Escape, and he hit the Ford Escape so hard it hit the Kia Soul right next to it,” Ballard said. “He ran right through the bushes and totaled the car. And any information on who owns this truck, please give us a call.”

The scene was investigated by a state trooper, who confirmed the registered owner of the truck was on the way to the location. However, Intercoastal Towing told us that the truck’s owner claimed he was not the one behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. If anyone has information about the driver of the truck, contact Intercoastal Towing and Recovery.
