WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – After falling 4-1 earlier this season, Hoggard girls soccer evened their season series with Ashley following a 3-1 home win on Friday.

Just like their first meeting, Hoggard entered the game ranked 1st in Class 4A East with Ashley right behind them at number two.

Halfway through the 1st half, Avery Fisher lobbed a pass onto Brielle Archer’s foot which then arched into the net to give the Vikings the lead.

Then just 24 seconds later, Archer dumped a pass off to Jordan Devoid who doubled the lead for the home team.

Archer managed to score in both meetings this season against Ashley, a team they might have to play again in the playoffs.

“It means we’re ready,” Archer said. “We’re here and we’re able to win. And that’s what it means to us. It means that we have just as much as they have. An opportunity to win and we proved it tonight. When Avery, our forward, gets the ball up, she always gets past them. So we just got to be in front of them. That’s pretty much it.”
