Holden Beach commissioners vote to revoke terminal groin permit

HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Holden Beach Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to withdraw their applications for a terminal groin at the east end of town.

In its withdrawal resolution, Holden Beach said the total costs to the town, its citizens and visitors of the proposed terminal groin outweigh the potential benefits.

The Army Corps of Engineers estimated it would cost upwards of $30 million not including maintenance.

Holden Beach would have been responsible for that.
