HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A popular business in Brunswick County was destroyed by an overnight fire.

According to the owner, they were staining tables and left a bag of rags covered in stain on the bar underneath the building where an outdoor bar is located.

Around 10:00 p.m., the bag fell over and the rags caught fire.

The owners say they were preparing for the upcoming season.

They say it’s difficult seeing something they’ve put so much work into be gone.

“We’ve had people follow us throughout the whole time that we’ve had it and just to watch all fall and to go away is just been devastating for us. It’s a tragic loss, it’s a tragic loss for the community. It’s a tragic loss for everybody that’s worked so hard and out so much into it. You know, our customers, our family, our friends.”

The Ridenhours say they will eventually rebuild and are glad no one was hurt.
