Holiday travel takes off at Wilmington International Airport

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – Holiday travel at the Wilmington International Airport is taking off.

The airport is expecting their busiest holiday travel days to place Friday, Sunday and Monday when the most flights are offered. Travel experts advise checking into your flight before going to the airport and arrive an hour and half to two hours early.

Erin McNally, public relation manager for the Wilmington International Airport emphasized that checking in your flight beforehand will help keep travelers up-to-date about any flight changes.

“The weather might be great here but maybe there’s weather at your destination,” McNally said. “Just make sure to check your status and allow a little extra time to get to the airport during this busy travel season.”

For those planning to travel with gifts in a carry-on bag, McNally said it’s best to leave them unwrapped just in case TSA has to inspect that luggage.
