Hope Abounds hosting two events to help families impacted by cancer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hope Abounds is an organization that provides support services to families who have a loved one battling cancer.

Hope Abounds was established in 2009 by Elizabeth and Kenny Barnes after their daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32.

“They felt there was a need to provide more advocacy for families in the area and they’ve expanded since then,” said Hope Abounds Pediatric Program Director Lisa Cawthorne.

Hope Abounds now assists anyone in North and South Carolina during active cancer treatment.

They’re hosting two upcoming fundraisers at Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park located at 5330 Oleander Drive, Wilmington.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, between 1-6 p.m., you can get $24 worth of fun for $12 but you must say you are there for Hope Abounds.

Another event, “Hope, Cope and Fun,” is a free event for families with a child battling cancer. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 from 2-5 p.m.
