Horry County grows and Pee Dee shrinks, census report suggests for money and jobs

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — After delays, extensions, and knocking on doors, the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020 report is confirming the growth we’ve been reporting through Horry County, but it’s also showing counties across the Pee Dee are losing residents.

While taking a closer look, the South Carolina counties losing the most people have fewer job opportunities, and higher poverty, while the counties with more jobs and more money are growing.
