Hot and humid weather for today

(WWAY) — Hot weather continues for today as heat index values reach into the upper 90s.

Increasing moisture and humidity will return Monday as a warm front lifts north through the region. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the lower 90s. The combination of daytime heating and higher moisture levels may support a few isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. A cold front will then approach and move through the area Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing additional chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Drier conditions and slightly lower humidity may begin to develop behind the front later Wednesday.
