‘House of Pickleball’ facility in the works
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — In Brunswick County there is a huge sport you may not know much about, but it is getting very popular.
Now to meet the needs of thousands of players a new facility is under construction.
What is this popular sport? Pickleball.
Plans started back in November for the “House of Pickleball” facility, but work started in March on Kay Todd Road near Brunswick Forest.
So far a lot of work was done and the roof is already in place.
This new facility is supposed to help serve up to 1,800 pickleball players in the area and it’s continuing to grow.
The owner of the facility says now is the perfect time to get this started and Brunswick County is the perfect place for this.
“It’s one of the hotbeds in the country,” Richard Holloman, “House of Pickleball” owner, said. “As you know, it’s one of the growingest counties in the country and there’s just a great demand for pickleball. We have a lot of retirees. We have even younger people playing pickleball. So we felt like it was the right time, it was the right place and we want to be able to pickleball, so anybody can play in at any time.”
The facility will be available for anyone on all skill levels and should open by July of this year.
