How to be aware of strokes
Wilmington, NC (WWAY)– A stroke can happen to anyone, at any time… regardless of one’s age or health status. That’s why remembering “be fast”, can help you recognize the signs, and respond fast.
The acronym — “be fast” — can help you remember the major signs of a stroke.
B is for loss of balance; E is for changes to vision or your eyes; F stands for drooping facial features; A is for arms hanging low; S is for slurred speech; and T is “time” as in call 911 immediately.
Doctor Ashley Nelson with Novant Health says there are many different kinds of strokes.
“A stroke could be from two causes, a blood vessel blockage or a clot that travels and blocks the blood vessel. It could be a blood vessel that burst and rupture that is what we call a hemorrhagic stroke”, said Nelson
