How to deal with stress after the holidays
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– With post-Christmas shopping, and the new year days away, some people may be feeling anxious around the holidays.
Most people eat more food, and sometimes, different types of food that usually aren’t consumed at other times of the year.
Combine that with drinking and a lack of sleep, it’s a recipe for anxiety. Wilmington Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Erika Geisler, has a couple of tips to cope with it all.
“I think taking care of ourselves is important. Put on your oxygen masks if you need a break from all the stress. Take a break, jump in the bathtub, go for a walk, go for a run, go to the gym, read a book, whatever it is that helps you decompress”, said Geisler.
Take time to take care of yourself, and if you can, Geisler suggests checking on others who may be feeling the holiday blues.
