Humpday Health: An alternative to gym memberships
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Are you looking for a way to be physically active without a gym membership? Or maybe find a way to supplement your current workouts with some fun workout classes? Wrightsville Beach is the place for you.
The Beach Bound Bootcamp is one of the many fitness classes that Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation offers to get people up and moving.
“Our classes are a great supplement to a gym because it is a pay per class and pay per session,” Recreation program supervisor Katie Ryan said. “You can attend any class when you can, pay with your token and supplement it with some of the other activities you have going on. It’s great to find a great variety.”
That’s what makes this program unique, unlike a traditional gym, with these classes; you can sign up and pay to play.
“Most of the classes are on a token system,” Ryan said. “So you purchase tokens a head of time at the park office then you come to the classes and pay your instructor with the tokens so there are no membership fees involved.”
Another class that is offered is the Vinyasa yoga class.
The class is held Mondays and Wednesdays. Katie Ryan says it has really grown over the years.
Each class offers a different style of training based on your skillset.
No matter your style, there’s something for everyone.
So whether you’re looking for a more strenuous program or a way to find your inner peace, the Wrightsville Beach Fitness classes are the place to go.
“It’s so important for people to exercise and stay physically fit. It’s great for the body, soul and mind” Ryan said. “I know I participate in a lot of these classes and just feel great for the rest of the day.”
