Hundreds gather to talk PGA Tour impacts on the Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Over 650 people gathered at the Wilmington Convention Center for a Power Breakfast this morning. The event was to talk about how the Wells Fargo Championship will impact Wilmington when it comes to Eagle Point Golf Club in May of 2017.

For many local businesses the tournament will bring thousands of new potential clients to their doors. Organizers from the PGA Tour talked with folks about ways to promote their businesses and make the best of their time in the spotlight.

For Donna Coulson, this breakfast provided a lot of good information about how to be involved in this huge sporting event coming to our area.

“It’s important for the business community to know about it because there’s opportunities for sponsorship, thousands of people will be in town and it’s an opportunity for businesses to connect,” Coulson said.

Coulson runs her own business, Donna Coulson and Associates, but volunteering is what brought her to the breakfast.

“They’re going to be offering training, they’re going to need 1,500 to 1,800 volunteers they said. So I think there’s an opportunity for people to get involved as well. You have to be willing to do it. And you have to be willing to do whatever it is that they want you to do,” Coulson said.

Tickets for the event are still on sale, and Coulson said about a third of them are already sold.
