Hundreds of folks applied for jobs at Vertex Rail Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Vertex Rail Technologies hosted an open house and job fair event at it’s new facility Saturday off Raleigh Street.

There was information about the new facility and the rail cars to be manufactured on display.

Members of Vertex staff was on hand to answer questions and to discuss the various positions that they are seeking to fill.

Job applications will be accepted during the event which is why one man attended.

Jason freeman is a student at Cape Fear Community College in the welding technology program and said, “I saw the advertisement where they were hiring welders hoping I can get in and get some experience while I’m still in school.”

Vertex Rail will be adding 1,300 new jobs. The company reports that salaries will average approximately $40,000 annually.
