WILMINGTON, NC (BB&T RELEASE) — The 30th annual BB&T Football Jamboree will be held Aug. 12 at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, NC. The prep scrimmage is a fundraiser for 10 southeastern North Carolina high schools and student scholarships.

The jamboree begins at 4.30 p.m. with a cheerleading showcase featuring squads from New Hanover, E.A. Laney, John T. Hoggard, West Brunswick, Whiteville, Wallace-Rose Hill, South Columbus, South Brunswick, North Brunswick and Ashley high schools.

Scrimmages begin at 5.30 p.m. The match-ups in order are: North Brunswick vs. South Columbus; New Hanover vs. Wallace Rose Hill; E. A. Laney vs. Whiteville; Ashley vs. South Brunswick; and John T Hoggard vs. West Brunswick.  Each game consists of two 12-minute periods.

The BB&T Football Jamboree Scholarship Committee also allows each school to name the scholarships in honor of one of its supporters – living or deceased – who either served on the school staff or in the administrative system. The initial recognition is for a five-year period. After that period, each school can honor another individual.  Schools select individuals who have inspired student athletes over the years through their leadership and teaching qualities.
