IFG partners with Good Shepherd Center to giveaway one-thousand turkey dinners

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Wilmington’s Innovative Financial Group (IFG) announced the continuation of its annual partnership with Wilmington’s Good Shepherd Center to bring Thanksgiving dinner to families in need.
For this, IFG donated one-thousand “Turkey Dinner Bags” to the center. The bags contain all of the nonperishable ingredients needed for a Thanksgiving dinner, plus a twenty-five dollar voucher for a Butterball turkey, redeemable at local grocery stores.
Chief Operations Officer Josh Benson said that for IFG, it is a pleasure to support the Wilmington community alongside the Good Shepherd Center.
“Our agents understand the struggle some of their clients face to find adequate resources for everyday items like food and medicine,” he explained.
That feeling is shared by Good Shepherd Center, who credits IFG’s donation for its ability to reach more families this year.
“The need is so great right now, and our numbers are higher than ever,” added Good Shepherd’s Executive Director, Katrina Knight. “We are serving nearly two-hundred lunches a day in our soup kitchen. We are sheltering at least one-hundred men, women, and children every night.”
The bags will be distributed to the public during Good Shepherd’s weekly grocery giveaway on Wednesday, November 15th, from 12 to 2pm on its main campus at 811 Martin Street.
The center hosts grocery giveaways every Wednesday from 12-1pm, offering fresh and nonperishable groceries, as well as cleaning supplies, toiletries, clothing, and other necessities.
Additionally, its soup kitchen is open to the public for lunch, Monday through Friday from 11am to 12pm.
Both programs are free, open to the public, and require no pre-registration. They are also located at Good Shepherd’s main campus.
