ILM awarded $4 million airport terminal grant from FAA

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) has announced a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Terminal grant award.
The FAA received 636 applications that totaled over $7 billion in projects for the FY24 Program. Through the competitive grant process, the FAA awarded $970 million in grants to 114 airports across the country, including locally.
The $4 million awarded to ILM funds a portion of the terminal access road and terminal curb front expansion and realignment.
“On behalf of the Airport Authority I’d like to express our sincere appreciation to our federal legislatures,” stated Spruill Thompson, Chair of the New Hanover Airport Authority.
Once complete, the 5-year capital project will replace aging infrastructure, providing better parking and traffic flow, expanding accessibility, as well as creating a more efficient and convenient pick-up and drop-off experience, according to a press release.
