WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — President Joe Biden is coming to Wilmington on Thursday.

His arrival to the Port City is expected to cause temporary delays of traffic around the Wilmington International Airport, but ILM says his visit shouldn’t greatly impact commercial flights.

The FAA released a Temporary Flight Restriction, which restricts aircraft operations within a 0-30 mile radius of downtown, between 1:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. However, this does not fully restrict commercial scheduled flights within the 10 mile radius area under a TSA approved security program, ILM says.

They say this will enable scheduled airline flights to arrive and depart on or close to schedule.

“We encourage travelers to check their flight status directly with the airlines for the most up to date information. Additionally, travelers may want to allow extra time, in the event there are temporary road closures or changes in traffic patterns,” a statement read.
