Inclusive playground opens in Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beached opened a brand new playground just in time for summer. But this isn’t just any playground.

This new all inclusive playground is fun for everyone both kids and adults. Now kids of all abilities will be able to play together thanks to handicap-friendly playground equipment. There are even exercise stations for parents too.

Recreation program supervisor Katie Ryan said this is a great upgrade to the previous park.

“At one time we had a very nice playground but it wasn’t fitting for those in a wheelchair or just other disabilities or needs that we just didn’t provide for them with our playground that we had before,” said Ryan.

The park was paid for by a $300,000 grant from the Trillium Health Resources.
