WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Hoggard boys soccer took sole possession of first place in the Carolina Coast Conference following a 1-0 home win over New Hanover on Tuesday.

Scoreless at halftime, Sawyer Ingham scored off a Harrison Dyer assist six minutes after the break to get the Vikings on the board.

“We were fighting hard all game and it was great to get the goal,” Ingham said. “Really a relief off our shoulders, but we continued fighting and won the game. Our coach coaches us to stay calm and composed. So even in tough situations, we keep our game and stay composed. It’s a big win. Good test for us at the start of the season, but we got to go game for game and keep going.”
