Innovative Housing, Lasting Impact: Eden Village’s 3D printed home project

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — ‘Eden Village of Wilmington’ is in the planning and permitting process of building durable 3D printed homes for those experiencing homelessness.

The 3D printed tiny homes will be built on Kornegay Avenue near Eden Village’s current 31 tiny home community.

In order to put the final touches on planning… Eden village has been communicating with individuals in the city and county, as well as having weekly meetings with their builders from a construction company called Icon based in Texas.

Executive director of Eden Village Shawn Hayes says he’s excited about more than just the new technology.

“We’re excited about the new 3D printing technology and bringing that to North Carolina and we believe that is a new innovative way of building but even more, so we are excited to bring more homes to our friends in need,” Hayes said.

Hayes adds Eden Village is looking for sponsors for the foundations of the homes. If you are looking to become a sponsor, donate, or volunteer, head to their website or give them a call.
