NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Students looking forward to riding an all-electric bus to start the new year will have to wait a little longer.

Bus riders at Mary C. Williams Elementary, J.C. Roe Center, and Hoggard High School who typically ride Bus 422 were supposed to be picked up beginning Tuesday morning by Electric Bus 471.

But it was announced Tuesday the transportation team needed to make some last-minute adjustments and Bus 471 wasn’t quite ready to take on its route.

“We’re disappointed by the delay, but we’re committed to meticulous safety and preparation for all school buses, electric or otherwise,” a spokesperson said.

The new plan is for the bus to run Wednesday morning.
