Investigation underway after fatality at a Wilmington business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Labor is investigating a fatal incident that occurred at a Wilmington business.

The incident took place just before 4:00 p.m. Thursday at 606 Sunnyvale Drive, the location of American Property Experts, a vegetative debris and recycling company.

Wilmington Fire Department responded to the scene after reports of an entrapment and hazardous materials spill. Wilmington Police also assisted in the response. A person was confirmed dead at the scene.

The North Carolina Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division has confirmed that an inspection is underway following the fatality.
