2 Marines with NC ties among Chattanooga shooting victims
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two of the Marines killed in a shooting in Chattanooga, TN, yesterday have North Carolina ties, including one who lived in Onslow County.
According to the Burnett County Sentinel, Sgt. Carson Holmquist was born in raised in Grantsburg, WI. He was living in Jacksonville, according to his Facebook page. Another of the victims is Staff Sgt. David Wyatt of Burke County, according to the Marine Corps.
The other two victims are Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan of Massachusetts, who had received two Purple Hearts during his career, and LCpl. Squire Wells (USMCR) of Georgia.
The men were killed in a shooting spree yesterday. Investigators say Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez opened fire at a military recruiting center and another military site before being shot to death by officers.
