Jelly Beans Family Skate Center announces final skate

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Get ready to lace up your roller skates at Jelly Beans Family Skate Center for the very last time on February 25!

Jelly Beans has been around since the 70s under a different managers and different building owners.  It is the home of roller skating, skating lessons, an arcade and summer camps.

The business has been sold to a new owner who is not going to keep the rink open.

“We are closing. It’s for good. Normally whenever someone else buys it they’re like ‘oh it would be awesome to own a skating rink,’ but the person that is buying it is not having it as a skating rink. It’s definitely bittersweet,” says Ava Bromeier, Jelly Bean’s general  manager.

Bromeier says the buyer of the building is not sure what he is going to do with the building.
