Jessie Mae Monroe art teacher wins colorful bet
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY) — Theresa Reiter is quite the colorful character who loves to make bets. An art teacher at Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary made a friendly wager with the principal of her school.
Reiter bet that her students could win just as many art competitions or more than last year.
Her students were able to win local, state, regional and national art competitions.
With several months left in the school year, Reiter’s students reached this year’s target
Since she won the bet, she was permitted to dye her hair “peacock colors” and couldn’t be happier with her students.
“I hope my students know how much I appreciate their hard work, how proud I am of them, and how priveleged I feel to be able to be their art teacher,” Reiter said.
Reiter and the Jesse Mae Monroe principal are already starting to make bets for next year. Maybe pink hair will be next for the art teacher, if the principal has her way.
