Join the American Red Cross for Battle of the Badges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The eastern North Carolina region of the American Red Cross is asking you to give blood and team up with law enforcement while doing it.

Battle of the Badges is happening Tuesday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wilmington Blood Donation Center (1102 S. 16th St.).

You are encouraged to donate blood and enter a friendly competition among local fire responders. When you donate, you can let volunteers know which team you would like to support. There will be giveaways and a plaque awarded to either Team Law Enforcement or Team Fire/EMS.

The American Red Cross also currently has the Sound the Alarm campaign underway. Volunteers helped install hundreds of smoke alarms in homes across the area.
