Judge orders hearing in sweepstakes parlor fight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A judge has called for an evidentiary hearing as a sweepstakes parlor fights to stay in business.

Capital One Reward Zone filed for a temporary restraining order against the New Hanover County Sheriff and the District Attorney for raiding the Market Street business last month.

The business’s attorney argues the software used on its computers is not illegal, so the sweepstakes parlor should not have been busted and employees cited.

The judge has called for a hearing Monday in civil court.
